Study of The U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Student Leaders on Religious Pluralism Winter Program 2012

The Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders on Religious Pluralism is an intensive academic program whose purpose is to provide groups of undergraduate student leaders with a deeper understanding of the United States, while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills.  The Study of the U.S. Institute on Religious Pluralism in the U.S. will explore U.S. history, society, and institutions within the context of religious pluralism and interfaith dialogue.  Topics will include, but are not limited to, early religious traditions in the United States; the separation of church and state; immigration and the introduction of new religions in the United States; protection and representation of minority groups and religions; and interfaith dialogue and cooperation in a diverse and rapidly changing world.  Participants will meet with U.S. community leaders of different faiths that advocate for collaboration and tolerance among religious groups.  Participants also will examine the leadership role that religious officials play in their own societies and develop ideas for how they can work with leaders, of similar or different faiths, to bring about positive social change.

Master’s Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance (PPGG)

The programme is designed to academically qualify future leaders in politics, law, economics and administration according to the principles of Good Governance and to prepare them in a praxis-oriented course for their professional life. The programme offers very good graduates with a first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) the chance to obtain a Master’s degree in disciplines that are of special relevance for the social, political and economic development of their home country.

With the knowledge and experience acquired in Germany the scholarship holders should later contribute to the establishment of democratically devised economic and social systems aimed at overcoming social tensions. In addition, the training at German institutions of higher education should especially qualify the scholarship holders as partners in political and economic cooperation with Germany. With this programme, DAAD intends to contribute to the support of Good Governance and civil society structures in selected partner countries and regions. For more details please click here.
