The Climate Project is now taking applications for The Climate Project Asia – Pacific Summit to now be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from January 8 – 10, 2011. If looking to graduate your own understanding and efforts on climate change, this could be the ideal opportunity to join many people in the region making a significant difference on the issue.
The Summit will provide participants the chance to receive training from former US Vice President and Nobel Laureate The Hon Al Gore on his most recent material drawn from his new book Our Choice, to hear from an informative, inspiring and diverse group of speakers on science, political landscape, solutions and skills training – and of course the wonderful opportunity to connect with other committed people doing amazing things from around the region.
The last Asia – Pacific Summit in Melbourne in 2009 brought together 261 Presenters from 19 countries to start a more cohesive, collaborative and compassionate conversation on climate change and this will be a great place to further that dialogue as we approach the end of the global Kyoto commitment period in 2011.
As a Climate Project Presenter you will make a significant difference on the issue. As a collective group, the Presenters have spoken personally to over 1 in 70 Australians since 2006. These people include federal politicians, business executives, industry representatives and a plethora of local community groups. The results of which have rippled out to the formation of climate action groups, to changes in a businesses climate change policy, to playing a significant role in keeping climate change a priority item on the government’s agenda.
2011 will be a year of great challenge and opportunity and is already being touted as Australia’s best opportunity thus far to enact strong climate change policy. We need passionate and committed individuals to make that happen.
